Biography
Michael is the former Chairman of Schroders plc. His career has been mainly with the Swire Group, which he joined in Hong Kong in 1958, becoming a director in 1971. He was Chairman of Cathay Pacific, SwirePacific and John Swire and Sons (HK) Ltd. in the 1980’s, and an Executive Director of John Swire & Sons Ltd. in the 1990’s. He was a director of HSBC 1984-1988. He was Chairman of Johnson Matthey plc 1998 – 2006, and a Director of BP plc 1994 – 2006. He is a Committee Member of the Hong Kong Association.
