Biography
Professor of Biomedical System Laboratory Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology of The University of Tokyo Founding President of Asia-Pacific International Molecular Biology Network (A-IMBN) An Alumni of Graduate School of Medicine of The University of Tokyo, he continued his research at the Institute of Medical Science, The University of Tokyo, and then at Stanford University. In 1981 he engaged in establishment of biotechnology venture firm, DNAX Research Institute, as director of the molecular biology unit. In 1989, he appointed Professor of Graduate School of Medicine of The University of Tokyo, and then the Chief Director from 1998 till 2003. In 1997, Founding President of Asia-Pacific International Molecular Biology Network (A-IMBN). From 2002 to 2004, He promoted “Tokyo Genome Bay Project” as Chief Director of The Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science. Councilor at Kanagawa Academy of Science and Technology (KAST). Chairperson of Tokyo Metropolitan Area Council of Life Sciences, President of Genome Pharmadesign Forum, A member of International Advisor Meeting of Thai BIOTEC, Malaysia BTC. Charter Member of TSUNAMI Entrepreneurs’ Club since 2005.
