David Wesche

Biography

David Wesche MD, PhD joined Certara Strategic Consulting in August 2013. He currently is a full-time consultant to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. At the Foundation, David supports the Global Health Program, Integrated Development, and Quantitative Sciences, applying his clinical pharmacology and drug-developmment expertise to the Malaria and Neglected Tropical Disease investment teams. Over the years, David has applied clinical pharmacology thinking and model-based drug development in government and pharmaceutical industry positions. He has experience in multiple therapeutic areas, with a predominant focus on CNS, pain, orphan and tropical diseases. Dr. Wesche has authored or co-authored multiple peer-reviewed papers and conference abstracts. Dr. Wesche received his MD and his PhD in Pharmacology in 1983 from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and was subsequently certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He completed his Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology in a joint program sponsored by the FDA and Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. Before joining Certara, David has worked at the University of Papua New Guinea, WRAIR, Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research, Pfizer Global Research and Development, Ovation Pharmaceuticals, and Lundbeck LLC. Dr. Wesche has been involved with multiple INDs, NDA’s, and sNDA’s in his roles as clinical pharmacologist, translational medicine specialist, and senior medical director.
