Ian Campbell

Biography

Ian Campbell is currently a Consultant Surgeon at Waikato Hospital and an Associate Professor with the Waikato Clinical School, University of Auckland Medical School. He has subspecialised in the management of breast cancer over the last 25 years and has Chaired a number of national committees on breast cancer management and standards of care in NZ, including the NZ Guidelines Group: Management of Early Breast Cancer published by the NZ Ministry of Health in 2009, and the National Breast Cancer Work Group responsible for developing Standards of Service Provision for Breast Cancer, published 2013. He is very actively involved in clinical research across the spectrum from prevention to better treatment and quality of life. A particular interest is in sentinel node biopsy and management of the axilla, and he is a member of the SNAC Trial Executive and Co-Chair of the SNAC2 Trial. Ian is a long standing member of the ANZ Breast Cancer Trials Group Scientific Advisory Committee, previous Chair of the Local therapy subcommittee, and previous NZ member on the ANZBCTG Board.
