Biography
Dr. Bradford Waddell specializes in reconstruction of the hip and knee, specifically primary and revision hip and knee replacement. He is keenly interested in getting patients back to an active, healthy lifestyle through joint replacement. Dr. Waddell attended college and medical school at Louisiana State University. He completed his general surgery internship at The Ochsner Clinic followed by his orthopedic surgery residency at The Ochsner Clinic as well. Dr. Waddell then completed the Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement (ARJR) fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Waddell has a special interest in improving all aspects of orthopedic surgery and is active in research pertaining to patient safety, new technologies and value-based care. Beginning in medical school, Dr. Waddell served a member of the House of Delegates for the Louisiana State Medical Society. Following this, Dr. Waddell was selected for the Patient Safety Committee for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, serving for two years. In 2016, Dr. Waddell was selected as a Health Policy Fellow for the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. This experience has allowed Dr. Waddell to interact with orthopedic leaders and United States lawmakers to shape the future of orthopedics. Throughout training and in practice, Dr. Waddell has been awarded for his clinical excellence and his dedication to patient care, research and professionalism. During residency, he was awarded the Alton Ochsner Resident Leadership Award. Dr. Waddell then received the Hospital for Special Surgery Clinical Excellence Award for outstanding clinical skills and commitment to patient care in his fellowship. Dr. Waddell has also been selected to serves as an Emerging Leader for the American Orthopaedic Association. Dr. Waddell treats each patient as an individual, tailoring his treatment recommendations to their specific problem, factoring in their goals after operative or non-operative care. His ultimate goal is to return each patient to an active, healthy lifestyle.
