Biography
George Dunbar joined Isto in 2013 as an independent director before becoming President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2014. Prior to joining Isto, he served as a venture partner with Arboretum Ventures, a leading healthcare venture capital firm, and was a director of four life science companies — two as executive chairman. He has held senior leadership positions with Ares-Serono (now Merck-Serono) and Amersham International (now GE Healthcare). In addition, Mr. Dunbar’s consulting practice, The Dunbar Group, has worked with several leading healthcare venture capital firms, mentoring management teams on capital efficiency, creating market value, and liquidity events for investors. Currently, he also serves as an independent director with Capricor Therapeutics, a public cell therapy company, and Diagnovus, a molecular diagnostic testing and service company for rare diseases recently sold to Aegis Labs. Mr. Dunbar has a degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from Auburn University, and serves on the Harbert College of Business MBA Advisory Board. He is also an advisor to Vanderbilt University’s Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization.
