Biography
EXPERIENCE: Julian Burke joined Leica Microsystems in January 2010 as Chief Scientific Officer after Leica acquired his former company, Genetix Limited. He was involved in the successful IPO of Genetix in November 2000 after selling his own start-up businesses (Genpak Limited and Genpak Inc) to Genetix. His background includes responsibilities for strategic marketing, patent filing strategy, new product development and M & A. Julian lectured in Molecular Genetics at the University of Sussex and has over 100 publications. He is a visiting Professor at the University of Southampton and chairs and sits on various national research grant committees. He consulted widely in Pharmaceuticals (GSK, AstraZeneca and Pfizer), Research Tools (Amersham International), Scientific Policy (EU, BBSRC) and Food (McDonalds (burgers)). Previously he was a Senior Fellow at the Medical Research Council, Cancer UK and the Roswell Park Cancer Center, NY, USA.
