Biography
Prof. Hisashi Hirano ( Proteomics, Department of Medical Life Science, Graduate School of Medical Life Science,) has received the Japan Proteomics Society Award at the 2012 Japan Proteomics Society Meeting (10th Japan Human Proteome Organization Convention) held on July 26 and 27. The award-receiving theme was “The Systemization of Proteome Analysis Technology and Its Application to Research of Medical Life Science,” which consists of research results on the development, improvement, and systemization of proteome analysis technology, as well as evaluation of the results of life medicine research that utilizes proteome analysis technology such as research related to detection and functional analysis of posttranslational modification of proteins, drug discovery targets, and searches for diagnosis markers. Prof. Hirano is currently the Director of Advanced Medical Research Center, Yokohama City University, and as Project Leader of the“Creation of innovation centers for advanced interdisciplinary research areas program”from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan, he promotes“Creation of medical research centers for posttranslational modification proteomics”where research can be conducted with consistency, from clarification of the relationship between modification abnormalities and diseases based on developing detection methods for posttranslational modification abnormalities of proteins, to the development of modification abnormality disease diagnosis technology, as well as drug discovery.
