Biography
• In 2003, Canadian-born James Nakagawa began imagining a new kind of society where patients could be empowered using mobile technology, way before Apps, to take their health issues, literally, into their own hands, monitoring their daily medication, nutritional intake via food photos and other key health indicators. • James developed and pioneered the lifewatcher product in Japan initially just to help a Type 2 diabetic friend, as the world's first implementation of a patient-centric mobile healthcare platform, at that time a completely revolutionary concept. He has led innovation and development of the platform and business models, and has built a strong global healthcare, medical network and management team. • In 2014, the Japanese government invited James to be one of their keynote speakers at their inaugural Fukuoka Global Venture Awards. James was also selected by the Chair of MIT for Japan to mentor MIT Venture Forum Japan-related entrepreneurs.
