Biography
Akeo Shinkai graduated from Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan, in 1986. He received his M.S. degree from Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan, in 1988 and Ph.D. degree (Doctor of Agriculture) from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 1991. From 1991 to 2002, he worked for Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Co. Ltd. as a Research Scientist. From 1999 to 2001, he was a Visiting Scientist of the University of Washington. Since 2002, he has been working for RIKEN as a Senior Research Scientist.
Research Interest
Specialized field of Akeo Shinkai is molecular biology. He is interesting in bacterial environmental response, and now studying CRISPR-Cas system and bacterial transcriptional regulatory system, using extremely thermophilic bacterium Thermus thermophilus as a model organism.
