Erica Sessle

Biography

Erica Sessle, MPhil, MPH, is our chief of staff for the Office of the President, responsible for coordinating, managing, and supporting strategic initiatives for PATH’s CEO and executive team. Ms. Sessle has spent her career building collaborations and leading teams focused on solving complex scientific and public health problems around the world. Before joining PATH in 2017, she was managing director and cofounder of an innovative global oncology program at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, where she also served as vice president and chief operating officer for a nonprofit organization established to facilitate the global oncology program’s operations in East Africa. From there, she moved to the US Department of State, where she worked to implement PEPFAR, the US government’s multibillion dollar HIV/AIDS program, in 36 countries and regions. Most recently, she was chief of staff to the president and chief scientist at the Allen Institute for Brain Science, where she served as a primary strategic advisor. Ms. Sessle holds a master of public health degree with a concentration in epidemiology from the Bloomberg School at Johns Hopkins University, and a master of philosophy degree from St. John’s College at the University of Cambridge, where her thesis focused on feminist theory and Irish literature. Ms. Sessle conducted her business administration training at the Harvard Business School and has a certificate in project management from the University of Washington.
