Hirotaka Kuwata

Biography

I am a professor with research interests in oral microbiology. I have always been worked in infectious diseases, which is, one of a major subject in the field of dentistry. After completing a DDS course in 1997, I began pursuing a career in microbiology. I initially worked for Group A Streptococcal virulence factors in PhD course. Soon after I gained a plenty of experience in orthodox bacteriology and PhD degree, in order to get comprehensive understanding of infectious diseases, I moved to Professor Akira’s laboratory as postdoctoral fellow. I learned many things about host defense systems, especially innate immunity, which has been one of the hottest areas in biology. I also spent 6 years researching the scavenging mechanisms by phagocytes in Toronto and Kyoto. In 2012, I joined Showa University to research on the project, the impact of innate immune system on oral mucosa. My research includes molecular and cellular biology. Career 2012 ?
