Biography
Francisco has a master in Biological Engineering and finished his PhD in Biotechnology in 2011 at Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal. His research was focused on the translation of adult human stem cell expansion systems to the clinics, with several publications in the field. He was involved in a pioneer clinical project in Portugal for the treatment of patients with acute Graft-versus-Host Disease (GvHD) with allogeneic stem cells. In 2011, Francisco co-founded Cell2B Advanced Therapeutics, where he assumed the role of manager of the R&D department and was responsible for Cell2B’s product development studies and for scientific and technical partnerships with academic research groups and industry. Francisco has significant experience in the pharmaceutical development of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMP) and regulatory affairs.
