Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (Sumitomo Kagaku Kabushiki-gaisha) is a major Japanese chemical company. The company is listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the on the Nikkei stock index. It's a member of the Sumitomo group and was founded in 1913 as a fertilizer manufacturing plant. Sumitomo chemical was established in1931 to manufacture fertilizer from sulfur dioxide emitted from smelting operations at the Besshi Copper mine in Niihama, Ehimeb prefecture, with the aim of solving environment problems caused by the emissions. We must not merely seek business profits but must contribute broadly to society through our business activities.
