Biography

BIOGRAPHY Dr. Corry Payne’s busy practice includes patients of all ages, but the Dallas native admits feeling “right at home” treating even the youngest of athletes. For the past two decades, the orthopedic surgeon has repaired the knee injuries – his specialty being ACL reconstructions – and the bumps and bruises commonly found in athletes ranging from novice competitors to high-level athletes. Board-certified in orthopedic surgery since 1987, Dr. Payne currently serves as a team physician to the Dallas Independent School District, Lake Highlands High School and Parish Episcopal School. He has also volunteered with Dallas Cup Soccer, World Cup Soccer and the Women’s U.S. Olympic Ski Team. Dr. Payne follows in the footsteps of his father, a popular Dallas pediatrician for more than 45 years. He attended SMU and UT Southwestern Medical School. While in medical school, he was involved in sports medicine research including three months at the famed August Krough Institute for the Theory of Gymnastics in Copenhagen, Denmark. He completed his orthopedic surgery training at UT Southwestern followed by two fellowships. Dr. Payne, a father of four, enjoys attending sporting events and concerts with his wife and kids. During the summer, he escapes the Texas heat by visiting his wife’s family in the Utah mountains and their family house boat on Lake Powell.
