Biography
Mitsuo Oshimura is a Professor at the Department of Biomedical Science, Institute of Regenerative Medicine and Biofunction, Graduate School of Medical Science, Tottori University.
Research Interest
Oshimura started to study on chromosome abnormalities of human cancer and leukemia, and found several common aneuploidy and chromosome translocations in certain types of cancer and leukemia at RMPI, USA. Dr. Oshimura has developed human artificial chromosomes(HACs) for use as gene delivery vectors to overcome various problems in existing viral and non-viral vector systems. Dr. Oshimura is also involved in developing various new and ideal HACs that will be useful for designing HAC-based gene and cell therapies, as well for humanized animal models.
