Biography
Joan Shaw carries overall responsibility for the strategic growth, development, and implementation of UBC’s clinical and emerging company strategy and clinical development. Working in support of this business segment, and the successful implementation and execution of these programs, she provides overall direction, strategy, and executive management oversight to the clinical development team. Joan has more than 20 years of experience in global clinical operations, including experience managing programs for small molecules, vaccines, and targeted biologics. Her work has included the design, implementation, and execution of numerous clinical research programs in large and mid-sized pharmaceutical companies and clinical research organizations. She has been responsible for clinical development plans, regulatory strategy and submission to the FDA and filings to the EMA. In addition, she has led global projects for studies enrolling as many as 24,000 patients and budgets surpassing one billion dollars. Joan holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Chemistry from West Chester University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from the University of Delaware. In addition, she earned Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Accreditation from Villanova University and is a Licensed Medical Technologist
