Biography
Dr. Saqer Abdel-Rahim earned his M.Sc. degree in Theory and Applications of Computation from Loughborough University of Technology, UK, in 1977, and received the PhD degree in Computer Science from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK, in 1991. He started his career at the IT Centre of the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) of Jordan in 1978. In addition, he worked as an instructor at Princess Sumaya College for Informatics (1978 – 1988). Dr. Abdel-Rahim became a faculty member at Princess Sumaya University for Technology at its establishment in 1991 as a part-time lecturer. Between 1993 and March 2009, he served as director of the Information Technology Centre of the RSS. During that period he was in charge of several large IT projects, mostly for public institutions, and more than 14 EU funded projects in e-Commerce, applications used in small and medium-sized enterprises, high performance computations and cultural heritage. Dr. Abdel-Rahim has served at PSUT as a full-time Assistant Professor since April 2009. As a major achievement, during the period 2012 -2013, he participated as committee coordinator for the ABET program and the Department of Computer Science has been awarded accreditation by ABET until 2018. In the period 24/09/2014 to18/9/2016, Dr. Abdel-Rahim was Head of the Department of Computer Science at PSUT.
