Joseph P. Degeorge

Biography

 The son of a master teacher and a hall of fame football coach, Joe DeGeorge was born in Denver, Colorado in 1965. After spending his teenage years in Beloit, WI, Joe attended Beloit College where he majored in English Literature and certified in secondary education. During the fall he could be found on the gridiron, where he was all-conference and set five school records while in the spring he played first base on the baseball team. Most of his time, however, was spent in the library reading Shakespeare and preparing high school lesson plans. Socially, he enjoyed the Alpha Zeta Chapter of Sigma Chi. Joe’s professional career started in Aurora, IL at Marmion Academy where he taught English and coached. Spanning 16 years was his collegiate coaching career, where he served as either a defensive coordinator or head football coach at Ripon College in Wisconsin, North Central College in Naperville and Augustana College in the Quad Cities. Along the way, Joe earned his Masters of Liberal Arts in 1998. Always having a passion for the stock market, he made a career change in 2005. A top producer at Wells Fargo both hired and mentored him. After a stint at Smith Barney and a devastating 2008, Joe returned to teaching for five years. During that time, he doggedly studied top investors and traded in his own account. Joe now considers himself a swing trader and investor who actively trades stocks, ETFs, CEFs and options. Joe concentrates on earning income for retirees and creating growth in accounts for investors who are trying to build a portfolio. Joe became an independent financial planner in late 2014 with Money Concepts. In 2016, he took a proprietary trading position with Maverick Trading and created Innovative Investment Solutions. Actively investing for 27 years, Joe’s credentials include FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations and state Life, Accident and Health Insurance licenses. Discomfort with the traditional financial planning role with large broker/dealers motivated Joe to start his own firm as a Registered Investment Advisor. The lessons of the 2008 stock market crash left an indelible mark on Joe, and his life’s passion has become to construct portfolios which perform better than those of his competitors during market downturns. Joe strongly believes in creating lifelong relationships based both on trust and performance. Joe lives in Bettendorf with his wife Becca who teaches in the Bettendorf School District. His daughter Kelli is a freshman at the University of Iowa and his son Danny is a seventh grader at Pleasant Valley Junior High. The DeGeorges are members of Saint John Vianney Church.
