Biography

Saltanat Kazhimuratova has ten years of university teaching and eight years of journalism experience. She has worked in the print media, where she focused on reporting social and political issues. She participated in the “Sustaining Democratic Press” editorial training program of the Thomson Foundation, UK, and undertook a study tour of media outlets in the USA, during which she visited ABC News, The Washington Post, the Discovery Channel, NBC, among others. Before joining KIMEP, Saltanat taught at other universities in Almaty, where she held senior positions, including Head of the Journalism Section at the Kazakh-American University and Chair of the English Language Department at the Almaty Institute of Language and Translation. In 2006 she was a visiting international scholar in the Journalism School at Michigan State University. She spent a semester there under the Junior Faculty Development Program. Saltanat is a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), Columbia, South Carolina, USA
