Biography

1990 to date Senior Lecturer in the Land Resources Planning and Management Department (LRP&M) at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). I am involved in training and research in Soil and Water Management and Environmental Conservation. The major activities include writing project proposals and implementing funded research, teaching and student project supervision, current chairman of department, student mentorship through counseling and guidance, curriculum development and resource person for the African Institute for Capacity Development (AICAD), supervision of postgraduate research projects and consultancy for different organizations. 1990 - District Agricultural Officer, Kwale District In charge of technical, personnel and financial management in coordination and implementation of the following projects: · Soil and water conservation funded by Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA). · National Extension Programme funded by World Bank · Development of Robusta Coffee in Shimba hills funded by IFAD · Development of nursery and bulking sites for tree seedlings, banana suckers and cassava cuttings funded by IFAD 1987- District Agricultural Officer, Isiolo District In charge of technical, personnel and financial management in coordination and implementation of the following projects: · Rehabilitation and maintenance of irrigation schemes formally funded by FAO along Ewaso Nyiro River. · Development of water resources (water pans) for livestock in the rangelands. 1983-1987 - District Soil Conservation Officer, Machakos District In charge of implementing the following projects: · Soil and water conservation in the medium and low potential areas funded by European Economic Community through Machakos Integrated Development Programme (MIDP). · Soil and water conservation in the high potential areas funded by Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) 1980-1981 - District Agricultural Officer, West Pokot District In charge of technical, personnel and financial management in coordination and implementation of the following projects: · Soil and water conservation in high potential areas (funded by SIDA) · Small scale coffee improvement project (funded by World Bank) · Integrated Agricultural Development Programme (funded by World Bank) 1978-1979 - District Crops Officer, Keiyo Marakwet District In charge of implementing the following projects: · Soil and water conservation in the high potential areas (funded by SIDA) Cotton development in the Kerio valley both rainfed and supplementary irrigation (funded by Kenya Government).
