Biography

Researching on normal and pathogenic microorganisms mainly the intestinal bacteria. Key in my work are members of the Enterobacteriaceae, including Salmonella, Shigella, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus etc. Ihave carried out research on diarrheagenic bacteria which covered etiology, characterization antimicrobial profiling and rapid diagnosis. I have also carried out extensive research on Vibrio cholerae and the dynamics of cholera outbreaks in Africa. I have closely worked with the ministry of health, Kenya in responding to waterborne disease out breaks, mainly dysentery and cholera.
