Biography
Dr T. Thenya is a Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies and has over 15 years in natural resources management. He has a good experience in dryland natural resources utilization and management in various parts of the Country; some of these areas include Laikipia, Isiolo, Kajiado and Turkana district. He has been extensively involved in participatory formulation of natural resources management plans including forest management, where social mapping using geographical information system (GIS) and geographical position system (GPS). Dr Thenya has a wealthy of experience in assessment of best practice in natural resources and has been involved in one such exercise in Turkana and Isiolo district. He is also trained in conflict management. He is a coordinator of a project on natural resources research at Wangari Maathai Institute (WMI). He has also attended several workshops and seminars on water resources management.
