Biography
"Augustine, or Gus as he is commonly known, graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri, the first and foremost journalism school in the US., specializing in crisis communication. His research interests include crisis management and communication, image management and repair, media management, and corporate communication management. Besides contributing chapters to leading communication books like the Handbook of Crisis Communication (2010, Wiley-Blackwell), SAGE Handbook of Public Relations (2010), Handbook of Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility (2011, Wiley-Blackwell), Handbook of Research on Crisis Leadership in Organizations (2013, Edward Elgar) and Handbook of International Crisis Communication Research (2016, Wiley-Blackwell), his works have appeared in peer-reviewed journals like Journal of Public Relations Research, Public Relations Review, Journal of Business and Technical Communication, Journal of Contingencies and Crisis Management, Journal of Marketing Communications, Asian Journal of Communication, Australian Journalism Review, Corporate Communication: An International Journal, Journal of Marketing Channels, Asia Pacific Media Educator, Media Asia, International Journal of Strategic Communication, Journal of Communication Management, Public Relations Journal, Journal of International Communication, amongst others. He is on the editorial board of several journals and has edited/co-edited special issues in Media Asia and the International Journal of Strategic Communication. Gus is thankful for the top research awards won at leading international conferences including the International Communication Association (2017 and 2015), Corporate Communications International Conference (2016, 2014, 2009 and 2008); the Association of Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) conference (2015, 2010 and 2007), and the International Public Relations Research Conference (2009, 2004 and 2005). He was also credited by the World Public Relations Forum (Research stream) for his contribution to the Best New Researcher award (2016) won by his co-author. He is grateful for the impact and recognition of his work internationally. In 2016, he was awarded the coveted Kitty O. Locker Outstanding Researcher award for his body of work in crisis management and communication by the Association of Business Communication (US). In 2015, he was inducted as a member of the prestigious Arthur W Page Society (US). That same year, he was also appointed Honorary Fellow in Corporate Communication by Hong Kong Polytechnic University in recognition of his expertise in the field. In 2015, he also won a highly commended paper published in Corporate Communication: An International Journal for 2014. He is working on grants funded by Ministry of Education (Singapore), C R Anderson Foundation (US), amongst others."
