Afterwards, he worked as a Post-doc Research Fellow at Tsinghua University (Beijing), and later as an Associate Professor at the Capital Normal University (Beijing). He was the recipient of numerous grants, foundations and stipends, the funding agencies include Tsinghua University, China Ministry of Education, China Ministry of Human Resources, and Beijing Council for Humanities & Social Sciences, etc. Dr. Zhang was awarded the honor “Distinguished Post-doc Research Fellow of Tsinghua University”, and Excellence Book Prize for Humanities and Social Sciences in 2010 and 2012, respectively. Dr. Zhang joined the HSS faculty of NTU as an Assistant Professor in July 2013. From 2013 to June 2017, he was awarded the Start-Up Grant, C.C.K. Foundation, Lee Foundation, NAC R & D Grant, Incentive Scheme Grant for organizing international conference and conducting research project. From August to December 2016, Dr. Zhang served as a visiting scholar in Fairbank Centre for Chinese Studies of Harvard University. In March 2017, Dr. Zhang was awarded the ""Excellent Paper Prize of the Year 2016"" from the tier 1 journal Modern Chinese Literature Studies. From Dec 2017 to Jan 2018, he will be a visiting scholar in the Institute for Area Studies of Leiden University. Dr. Zhang's research areas include but not limited to modern Chinese literature and culture, overseas Chinese literature and culture, comparative literature, and critical theory. Prior to joining NTU, Dr. Zhang is already a leading figure of modern Chinese poetry studies. He solely authored four books that were published by Peking University Press, China Academy of Social Sciences Press and Singapore Global Publishing. So far there have been at least sixteen reviews of his books, they are published in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia. Dr. Zhang's publications are widely reviewed, quoted and cited by international scholars, he is winning more and more recognition not only in China but also overseas."
