Biography
Anita completed her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University in 2004. In 2011, she completed an Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy from the Orthopedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, and achieving the designation of Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy. Anita was also named Physiotherapist of the Year in 2016 by the Nova Scotia Physiotherapy Association. She travels regularly to Washington University in St. Louis for advanced study in Movement System Impairment and Treatment with Dr. Shirley Sahrmann. Anita has spent the last 11 years working in private practice and teaching in various capacities. She is an instructor with the Orthopedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and is a lab instructor in the Master's of Physiotherapy program at Dalhousie University. She regularly speaks to various running groups and provides educational sessions for personal trainers. Her caseload is very diverse. She has special interest in movement impairment, fitness, running, health and manual therapy. She enjoys working closely with runners of all fitness levels to help them achieve their goals in the sports. Anita also works privately with patients to help treat urinary incontinence and pelvic dysfunction. Anita's approach to physiotherapy tends to be hands-on, with emphasis on patient education, and exercise prescription. She spends a lot of time educating patients on ways they can be an active participant in the rehabilitation process.
