Biography
Dr. Maitham Khajah has completed his B. Pharm degree from Faculty of Pharmacy, Kuwait University in 2003 and obtained his Ph.D. degree in December, 2009 from the University of Calgary, Canada (Gastrointestinal science & immunology). He is currently an Assistant Professor in Kuwait University, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics since January 2010. His research interest is to study new molecular targets for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and the mechanisms responsible for immune cell chemotaxis. He is also interested in studying the mechanism of cancer cell invasion and metastasis specifically by using various endocrine resistant breast cancer cell lines. He attended various international conferences and published over 12 abstracts in these conferences. He co-supervised many students for the M.sc Molecular Biology Program, College of Graduate Studies, Kuwait University. Since he joined Kuwait University in 2010, he got various grants as PI and Co-I. He was awarded the Best young researcher award by Kuwait University, Research Sector for the Year 2013 – 2014.
Research Interest
Immunology (Inflammatory bowel disease, immune cell chemotaxis and signaling). Breast cancer (endocrine resistance, invasion, motility, and signaling)
