Biography

Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Olefins & Aromatics)  Hosnia Hashim is an executive of the Kuwait oil sector, with a career shaped by a trail of successes. She was the first-ever woman appointed as a Director of an oil and gas asset producing 700,000 barrels of oil per day in the State of Kuwait, making her lastingly a pioneer role model for women in the Middle East and the World. Recently she became Deputy Chief Executive Officer – Olefins & Aromatics of PIC (Petrochemical Industries Company). The company is a petrochemical industry leader in Kuwait and throughout the Middle East, and a growing leader worldwide. In addition to manufacturing and marketing fertilizers, Olefins and Aromatics. She became the Vice President of Operations of Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC), on June 16, 2013, and is accountable for all the international operations of the oil sector of the State of Kuwait, in 15 countries spanning three continents. Previously, she had been Deputy Chief Operating Officer of the North Kuwait asset of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), from 2007 to June 2013, and Deputy Managing Director of West Kuwait Asset of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) from 2005 to 2007. A Kuwaiti national, Hosnia earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Kuwait University, and joined Kuwait Oil Company as a Production Engineer, developing her experience with extensive contributions to the Kuwait upstream business, from reservoir management activities to corporate-scale projects. She sits at the Board of Directors of the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), and has been a member of the Boards of the Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) and the Kuwait Drilling Company (KDC). She is the Chair and the Founder of the innovator Middle East initiative for the promotion of professional women, the KOC Professional Women Networking (PWN), advancing women in Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and its 8 subsidiaries. She is also very active in professional societies, and was the Chair of the Middle East Board of Directors of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and Regional Director for the Middle East, North Africa and India region 2009-2012. She is a Board member of Hope Foundation, a Kuwaiti humanitarian initiative with a global outreach.
