Krista Farrugia

Biography

Ms. Krista Farrugia B.Sc., M.Sc., PgDip., PIEMA, senior environmental consultant at Adi Associates, has been working in the field of environmental assessment for a number of years. She was previously employed by the Malta Environment & Planning Authority (MEPA) where she was involved in the drafting of EIA and SEA Regulations for Malta, screening and scoping, setting of terms of reference, EIA reviews, assessment of plans and policies, public consultation processes, report writing, project management and public speaking. She provided input to the preparation of the SEA guidance document as well as the Greening Regional Development Projects (GRDP) handbook on SEA. GRDP was an INTERREG IIIC project that aimed to improve the environmental component of projects funded by Structural Funds. Krista also contributed to the Draft Handbook for Greening Projects, another product of GRDP. At MEPA, Krista was the focal point for environmental issues on EU funded projects as well as the focal point for other horizontal issues including green public procurement, for which she developed a draft national action plan.
