Biography
Executive Vice President, General Counsel since March 2016 and our Secretary since November 2014. Previously, he was our Senior Vice President, General Counsel since September 2014. Prior to joining Theravance Biopharma, Mr. Shafer served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at Theravance, Inc., since August 1999. From 1996 to 1999 he served as General Counsel of Heartport, Inc., a cardiovascular medical device company. From 1993 to 1996, Mr. Shafer was a partner in the Business and Technology Group at the law firm of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP. Mr. Shafer holds a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he was Editor‑in‑Chief of The Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly, and a B.A. from the University of the Pacific, where he graduated magna cum laude.
