Biography
Dame Eileen Sills was appointed Chief Nurse in 2005. Having qualified as a registered nurse in 1983, Eileen has held a number of general management and senior nursing leadership posts in London. She was awarded a CBE in 2003 for services to nursing, and a DBE in January 2015. Eileen holds two visiting professorships, at King’s College London and London South Bank Universities. She is a member of the NHS Employers policy board and the Chair of the grant committee for the Burdett Trust for Nursing. Eileen has a national reputation for strong, visible, clinical leadership, and her drive to take senior nurses back to the bedside has earned her a national reputation for her Clinical Fridays initiative. In August 2013 Eileen was appointed as the Clinical Director for London’s Strategic Network for Dementia.
