Biography
Irmina MatonytÄ— is professor of Political Science. She teaches Political Sociology, Comparative Politics, Elites and Leadership, Europeanization, Public Policy Process and Contemporary media reserach. She widely publishes (in Lithuanian, French, English, Belarusian and Russian) in internationally and nationally accredited academic journals (such as Europe-Asia Studies, Journal of Baltic Studies, Communist and Post-Communist Studies, Politologija, Parlamento stduijos etc.) and collectively edited volumes on European identity, the EU, political leadership and elites, women in politics and civil society in post-communist Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Estonia, Latvia and Moldova. Irmina MatonytÄ— was guest lecturer and researcher in several universities in Norway, the USA, France, Germany, Latvia, Russia and Spain.From 2005 to 2010 she was a President of the Lithuanian Political Science Association (LPA, vice-president since 2011). In 2006- 2012 member of the Executive Committee and chair of the Sub-committee on Membership and Participation of the International Political Science Association (IPSA, head-quarters in Montreal, Canada). Since 2008 she is Expert at the European Science Fund. Irmina MatonytÄ— teaches in Bachelor program “Economy and Politics” and advises PhD candidates at the ISM. Received the Scholar Of The Year 2013 Award.
Research Interest
Research interest include: Governance and elites (post-communist transformations of political, economic, media and social leadership in the Baltic countries, Poland, Hungary, Belarus, Moldova; Europeanization of national elites and public policies in the EU member states; coalition government- formation, action and dissolution) - Public policies (in particular, in the fields of equal gender opportunities, social care, civil society development, civic journalism) - Women and power (engendering electoral campaigns, women-leaders in political and business organizations).
