EDUCATION 1984 Vilnius University, Faculty of Law (Master of Law) International law studies at the University of Krakow, Poland, training in the foreign law firms McDermott, Will & Emery, USA, and Paisner & Co (currently Berwin Leighton Paisner), UK. PROFESSIONAL CAREER Since 2013 the Chairperson of the pan-Baltic Board of TGS Baltic Since 2003 Managing Partner at law firm Sutkiene, Pilkauskas & Partners (now TGS Baltic) 1999–2002 Partner and Head at Law Firm JaskutÄ—lis, SutkienÄ— & Masiokas (former Vilnius office of the USA law firm McDermott, Will & Emery) 1991 established the Vilnius office of McDermott, Will & Emery, and headed it for eight years 1989–1992 Head of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Lithuania and in charge of Commercial Arbitration at that Ministry 1984–1989 Head of the Legal Department of the Lithuanian State Wholesale Enterprise

Research Interest

Law on Land Expropriation while Implementing Projects of National Importance (adopted by the Parliament on 12 April 2011), which was designated to significantly simplify the procedures of land expropriation when the projects of national importance in the fields of energy infrastructure, transport infrastructure or national defence were being implemented. It is expected that such major projects as the European railway Rail Baltica, the energy interconnection between Lithuania and Poland LitPolLink, the LNG terminal in KlaipÄ—da and others shall be implemented in Lithuania by using these new legal procedures on expropriation (2010);
