Biography

Jens Kreisel is the Director of the "Department Materials Research and Technology (MRT) "​ at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). The MRT has a staff of about 180 people. Before moving in 2012 to Luxembourg, he has been Director of Research at the CNRS in Grenoble and Dpt. Vice-President of the Grenoble Institute of Technology (Grenoble INP, 5000 students, 1100 staff). JK is fluent in German, French and English, thanks to an international education and research career in Karlsruhe (D), Lyon & Grenoble (F), Oxford & Warwick (GB) and Luxembourg. JK's personal research interest lies in Materials Sciences, with a particular interest in how different physical properties interact in functional materials and how such functionalities can be translated into technology. JK is Adjunct Professor at the University of Luxembourg, holds a PEARL chair of the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) and is also editor-in-Chief of the international journal "Phase Transitions".
