Biography
Elif Gursoy has completed her PhD in obstetrics and gynecology nursing at Marmara University School of Nursing in Istanbul, Turkey; then postdoctoral study at University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in Philadelphia, USA. Besides working as a clinical nurse in OB/GYN for seven years, she started her professional career in the Ministry of Health in Ankara. She worked for the General Directorate (GD) of Maternal and Infant Health and Family Planning for three years and later GD of Nursing for seven years. She carried out several national and international projects related to both nursing and Turkey Reproductive Health Program, Sexual Health and Family Planning and some other projects i.e. development of the Nursing Law proposal and organizations of the in-service education programs for the clinical nurses. She is an Assoc. Prof. and Head of Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Turkey and the founding president of the Leadership Association in Nursing in Turkey as well. Her research interests are women’s health and gender discrimination, health policy and leadership in nursing. She has written and reviewed many papers. She is founding president of the Leadership Association in Nursing in Turkey.
