Biography
Gongbing Shan obtained his BSc in Physics in China and his MSc and Ph.D. in Biomechanics from the University of Münster, Germany. After his PhD, Dr. Shan went to the University of Vermont/USA and started his PostDoc research on population health, supported by the NIH – National Institute of Health, USA. He is now a Professor (Biomechanics) in the Department of Kinesiology, the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Shan is the founder of a state-of-the-art Biomechanics Lab at the University of Lethbridge. The lab is equipped with a high-speed 3D motion capture system, wireless EMG, force platforms & bicycle pedal force sensors along with other equipments personally developed by Dr. Shan. In the past decade, Dr. Shan’s research has been supported by Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Covenant Health Research Center (CHRC) and Southern Alberta Intellectual Property Network (SAIPN)
