Research Interest

Ian F. Smith, CPA, has served on Acorda’s Board of Directors since February 2007. Since 2016, Mr. Smith has served as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating and Financial Officer of Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated. From 2006 to 2016 he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, from 2003 to 2006 he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and from 2001 to 2003, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Vertex, Mr. Smith served as a partner in the Life Science and Technology Practice Group of Ernst & Young LLP. Mr. Smith initially joined Ernst & Young’s U.K. firm in 1987, and then joined its Boston office in 1995. Mr. Smith currently is a member of the Board of Directors of of Ophthotech Corporation and Infinity Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
