Y.c. Lee

Biography

Dato Dr YC Lee is the founder and Chairman of Lee Eye Centre. He is also currently the Medical Superintendent of Perak Community Specialist Hospital. Dato Dr Y C Lee's interests lie in cataract and anterior segment surgery and he is also renowned for his surgical innovations in the management of complicated cataracts. His innovative approach has also led to the development of a coaxial double aspiration technique for cortex removal, the details of which were published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology. He has numerous scientific publications and has contributed book chapters in many reference textbooks including Burrato's book on "Phacoemulsification - Principles and Techniques", "The Frontiers of Ophthalmology in the 21st Century" and "Diseases of the Lens". Dato Dr Y C Lee is a fellow of the International Intraocular Implant Club, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and a founder member of the Asia Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. His international acclaim within his field has won him many awards over the years. He was awarded the APIIA Gold Medal Award for his contribution to implant surgery in 1996 and the Distinguish Service Award by APAO in 1997. He was awarded the Keshmahinder Singh Oration Award of the Malaysian Ophthalmological Society in 2005. He was also awarded the Darjah Dato' Paduka Mahkota Perak (D. P.M.P) by His Royal Highness, the Sultan Of Perak in 1999 for his charity work and contributions to society.
