Biography
As Senior Advisor to the Deputy Laboratory Director, Bill Johansen provides high-level managerial and administrative support to the Deputy Lab Director. Bill has a long history at the Lab; he first started working at LBNL in 1987 as a student assistant in the Technical Information Dept. when he was still in high school. While completing his undergraduate degree, Bill continued in various Lab positions until 1993, when he went to work first on Capitol Hill, and then later as Deputy Director for the Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation. In 1996, Bill re-joined LBNL in the Life Sciences Division, taking on a series of roles that included Manager of the Biosciences Proposal Development Center, Senior Business Manager, and Division Deputy for Operations. From 2007-2009, Bill also served as the fourth Staff Advisor to the UC Board of Regents. He was named Senior Advisor to the Deputy Laboratory Director in 2012. Bill has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.P.A. from California State University, East Bay.
