Biography
· Dr Rohit Khurana is a cardiologist practising at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He has special interests in coronary artery disease and resistant hypertension, and in treating these conditions by catheter based interventions. · Dr Khurana studied medicine in Oxford University, UK, and went on to train in general cardiology at several prestigious teaching hospitals in London. He underwent subspecialty fellowship training in coronary intervention at Kings College Hospital, London, and Vancouver General Hospital, Canada. He is an accomplished interventionist, using mostly the transradial approach and routinely performing complex angioplasty, including chronic total occlusions, and adopting the latest innovations in interventional techniques. He was appointed as a consultant at the National Heart Centre of Singapore in 2009. · Dr Khurana has mentored many cardiologists in Singapore and ASEAN and proctored numerous workshops in regional hospitals, assisting in complex coronary angioplasty. In 2011, he pioneered renal denervation as a novel procedure to treat resistant hypertension in Singapore and was invited to proctor the first renal denervation procedures in Brunei and Vietnam. · In addition to breaking frontiers with his renal denervation and hypertension work, Dr Khurana has a strong track record in both basic and clinical research. He has presented his work at major international meetings, which has won him Young Investigator awards. He is a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship which funded 2 years of his research at Dartmouth College in the United States. He has over 35 publications in peer-reviewed journals and continues to be a regularly invited faculty member at many national and international meetings. He contributes time as a member of the research committee for the Singapore Heart Foundation. · Dr Khurana is committed to patient-centred care, striving for excellence with evidence-based practice.
