Sophia Merilyn George

Biography

Dr Sophia Merilyn George joined Gribbles Malaysia as consultant histopathologist in February 2013. Prior to this she was working as the Histopathologist in charge at a private cancer speciality Hospital in India, where in addition to specialist reporting she also undertook teaching, joint clinics in oncology and quality control and management. She has trained in Pathology at premier institutions in India, and is a gold medallist in Pathology. She has experience in cancer reporting and diagnosis at Tata Memorial Hospital Cancer Centre in Mumbai in the capacity of senior registrar where she also won prizes for paper and poster presentations. In addition she has been actively involved with several research papers and projects. She has also been an assistant professor in pathology at the Christian Medical College Vellore where in addition to specialist reporting for dermatopathology and oncopathology she also was involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research projects. In her career of post specialization, she has been solely reporting large and small histopathology specimens, with immunohistochemistry interpretation and frozen section diagnosis. With a keen interest in the latest advances she is a regular at several conferences and CMEs, and is focused on applying latest information to current histopathology reporting.
