Biography
Dr. Lai Voon Ping completed his basic medical degree at University Sains Malaysia in 1997. He did his post-graduate training in Ophthalmology at the University of Malaya and obtained the Master in Opthalmology in 2004. He also obtained certificate from the International Council of Ophthalmolgy from UK in 2001. Dr. Lai Voon Ping was gazetted as ophthalmologist by Ministry of Health of Malaysia in 2004 and is registered as a specialist in National Specialist Registry. Dr. Lai Voon Ping is one of the pioneer ophthalmic surgeons in Centre For Sight Laser Eye Centre since 2006. He had vast experience and had performed more than thousands of comprehensive cataract and refractive surgeries. He has tremendous knowledge and extensive skills to perform all types of corneal refractive surgeries eg. anterior surface ablation, microkeratome custom LASIK, femtosecond LASIK and the most recent technique of ReLex SMILE. He is one of the few surgeons in Malaysia who can perform the state of the art surgery- ReLex SMILE. He also performs phakic intraocular lens implant for those who are not suitable for LASIK. Dr. Lai is an expert in performing small incision cataract surgery by using ultrasonic phacoemulsification. He is capable implanting various intraocular implants eg. monofocal, toric, accommodative and multifocal (bifocal and trifocal) lenses. Dr. Lai also has special interest in paediatric ophthalmology. He performs eye assessment and provides medical and optical eye care to children. Dr. Lai is proficient in various eye surgeries eg. oculoplastic surgery, squint surgery, corneal surgery and glaucoma surgery. He provides comprehensive eye care in medical retinal diseases eg. diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal hole etc, by giving treatment like argon laser photocoagulation and intravitreal anti-VEGF injection .
