Biography
Dr. Rakesh obtained his MBBS from Punjabi University, India in year 1992. He also holds a M.D. in Radiation Oncology from the Institute of Medical Education & Research in Chandigarh, India in year 1999. Recently in year 2009, he attained the Master of Palliative Care at Edith Cowan University Perth, Australia. His clinical experience spanned over the last 15 years in India, Singapore and Malaysia has cultivated his expertise in treating patients on Cobalt, Linear Accelerator and Brachytherapy machines. He has been using the latest precision therapies like the IMRT, IGRT, SRT and SRS. He also gets extensive experience in Brachytherapy with modern techniques Isotope in treatment of cervix, oesophagus, bronchus and nasopharyngeal cancers. Overall, Dr Rakesh Raman demonstrates good hands-on experience in managing inpatients with invasive procedures, treating brain tumour with recent radiotherapy techniques in High Grade Gliomas, specializes in Medical Oncology for solid tumour and other related cancers and an expert in Palliative and Support care in cancer-specially in Pain Management. Dr Rakesh has been with Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital since December 2005. Before this, he was attached to National Cancer Centre, Singapore for 2 years as a Clinical Associate in Radiation and Medical Oncology unit. He obtained his Clinical Fellowship in Radiation Oncology at National Cancer Centre, Singapore.
Research Interest
His current main interest is in treating Cervical Cancer and other gynecological cancers using Brachytherapy. His other keen interests include lymphoma, sarcoma, germ cell cancers, lower gastrointestinal cancers, lung and thymoma cancers and breast cancer.
