Biography
Datuk Toh Ah Wah (William) is Independent Non-Executive Director of Petronas Chemicals Group Berhad since June 13, 2014. He is a member of the Board Audit Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. He began his career with Rothmans in 1981 and remained with the organisation throughout his professional career including after its merger with British American Tobacco (BAT) in 1999. For the first 10 years, his roles were primarily in marketing and sales. He then took on a succession of increasingly challenging line roles throughout Greater China, New Zealand, South Asia and South East Asia, culminating in his appointment as Managing Director of BAT Malaysia Berhad in 2009. He was the first and only Malaysian to have ever held the position of Managing Director in more than 100 years of BAT’s existence in Malaysia. He retired from BAT Malaysia Berhad in 2013 after serving the organisation for 14 years. He currently serves as an Independent Director of Tien Wah Press Holdings Berhad and CTBAT International Co Limited, which is based in Hong Kong. He is a council member of the Badminton Association of Malaysia.
