Biography
Encik Kamal Bahrin Bin Ahmad has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director, Executive Director of the Company effective 01 Jun 2017. He was Senior General Manager of Plant Operations Division. He graduated Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Texas at Austin, USA. He joined PETRONAS as a Project Engineer in Refining Sector and was involved in the commissioning of the Kerteh Refinery Reformer Project. In 1990, Kamal Bahrin joined PETRONAS Penapisan Melaka Sdn Bhd (PPMSB) and spent the next fourteen years performing various critical functions within the refinery, including the commissioning of Phase 1 & 2 of the Melaka Refinery. In 2003, he was promoted to the position of General Manager (Production) at PPMSB and two years later, mobilized to PETRONAS Gas Bhd (PGB) as the Senior General Manager, Plant Operation Division. In 2008, he won the PETRONAS HSE Personality (Management Category) during the PETRONAS HSE Forum and in 2009, he was given the opportunity to be exposed to upstream business, being appointed as the Senior General Manager, Development Division where he managed drilling activities and projects for both domestic and international blocks. Two years later, he was appointed as the Head, Project Management & Delivery, a newly formed division in T&E, and was tasked to lead the feasibility studies, Front End Engineering and project execution of various PETRONAS Downstream major projects like RAPID, SAMUR and SOGT. In 2011, he was given international exposure and mobilized to Engen to lead the transformation of the refinery, which was faced with challenges of substandard HSE and reliability performance.
