Dr Thiruchelvam Venugopal

Biography

Dr. Thiru graduated with Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Malaya in 1994. He then underwent his Clinical attachment at First Department of Orthodontics, Tokyo Medical and Dental University 1996 with a scholarship from the Japan Dental Association. In 2004, he qualified with Membership of Faculty of General Dental Practice (MFGDP), Faculty of General Dental Practice, The Royal College of Surgeons of England. The following year he was invited to the Board of Examiners for the Membership of Faculty of General Dental Practice (MFGDP) examinations and Membership of Joint Dental Faculty (MJDF) examinations conducted by the Faculty of General Dental Practice, Royal College of Surgeons (UK). His interest in Implant Dentistry lead him to complete his Certificate in Oral Implantology with University of Berne in Switzerland. He further completed Master Class Certificate Programme in advanced dental implantology with Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, USA. He was also bestowed Honorary Fellowships by the Academy of Dentistry International (FADI), International College of Dentists (FICD) and International College of Continuing Dental Education (FICCDE). In the field of organized Dentistry, he has served the Malaysian Dental Association (MDA) as its Honorary General Secretary 2003 - 2005, Honorary Financial Secretary 2000 – 2003 and Assistant Financial Secretary 1999 – 2000. He also represented the MDA as its Delegate to the AIDDEC Meeting Dubai 2005, FDI World Dental Congress 2003 (Sydney) and 2004 (New Delhi) and Asia Pacific Dental Congress 2003 (Manila), 2004 (Hong Kong) and 2005 (KL).
