Biography
Encik Zainal holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Honours) from University of Singapore. He is a practising corporate and commercial lawyer. He had practised in Singapore and was enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1980. Encik Zainal had also served as a First Class Magistrate in Brunei Darussalam from 1980 to 1983. Between 1983 and 1986, he served as the Company Secretary of Harrisons Malaysian Plantations Berhad. Encik Zainal was enrolled as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1986. Encik Zainal is the Founder and Senior Partner of Zainal Abidin & Co, Advocates & Solicitors, established in 1987. Encik Zainal is currently the Chairman of Maybank Islamic Berhad. He is also a Director of Etiqa Takaful Berhad, Lam Soon (M) Berhad, Sime Darby Plantation Berhad, Sime Darby Industrial Holdings Sdn Bhd and several other private limited companies.
