Biography
Professor Dr. Christopher Boey Chiong Meng started his career at the Charing Cross Hospital in London and had served in various hospitals in the United Kingdom, such as the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London and Birmingham Children's Hospital, before commencing his service at the University of Malaya Medical and Specialist Centres. His areas of clinical expertise are general paediatrics and paediatric gastroenterology. In 2005, he became Professor of Paediatrics in the Faculty of Medicine in University of Malaya. Currently, he holds the position of Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. Overseas academic appointments held by Dr Boey include Visiting Fellowship in Paediatric Gastroenterology at the University of New South Wales and at the University of Queensland in Australia. He is also Visiting Professor of Paediatrics at both the Juntendo University School of Medicine and the Keio University School of Medicine in Tokyo. Dr. Boey was the President of the Asian Pan-Pacific Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition from 2008 to 2009. Dr. Boey has been active in various activities for the promotion of peace, education and cultural exchange. Some of the activities he has been involved in over the years as a speaker and moderator include a national conference on The Family in the K-Economy Age: Challenges to Parenthood organised by Asia Pacific Forum on Families, Malaysia; a Kyoto University conference on The Role and Mission of Education at Universities in the 21 st Century from the Viewpoints of Health, Medicine and Bioethicsand an international conference on Religion in the Quest for Global Justice and Peaceorganized by the Centre for Policy Research and International Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia.
