Biography
Dr. Adelina Asmawi is a Senior Lecturer and was the Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Studies and the Quality Manager at the Faculty of Education, University of Malaya from Aug 2014 - Aug 2017. She holds a PhD in Professional Development of Teachers, TESOL, and Instructional Technology from Melbourne Graduate School of Education (ranked second in the world by subject), University of Melbourne, Australia. As Deputy Dean, Dr Adelina assisted and worked closely with the Dean and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Internationalization) in the development, implementation and monitoring of progress of the faculty’s strategic plan particularly in relation to Undergraduate Studies. She also took responsibility for the teaching and learning portfolio for the undergraduate programmes. She oversaw local and international undergraduate student matters and had, with her team, developed a comprehensive student advisory system for the faculty. To date, her team had completed the curriculum review of the B Ed TESL, B Early Childhood, B Counseling and B Ed (Educational Management) programmes, with B Early Choldhood Education being awarded AUN QA status in 2017. She takes great effort in pushing undergraduates to compete locally and internationally, and strive for excellence. In 2015, the faculty’s Undergraduate students won the POSCO Asia Fellowships 2015 and 2016 under the POSCO TJ PARK FOUNDATION and the Temasek Foundation Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking Programme Scholarship (TF LEaRN) @ Nanyang Technological University. As a researcher, Dr. Adelina actively publishes in the areas of higher education, instructional technology, creative thinking, TESOL and professional development. She enjoys exploring innovations in education – her latest being a collaborative project with University of Exeter and Chulalongkorn University on creative thinking and creative teaching for higher education. She is also in the midst of developing an e-graphic book for research in education under the UM-Liter research grant 2017.
