Biography
Dr. Liew Haw Ling is Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Malaya. Prior to this, he was a senior lecturer at Malaysia University of Science and Technology, and a lecturer at Monash University in Malaysia. He obtained his B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering (First Class Hons.) from University of Science Malaysia in 1997. He was privileged to attend graduate studies at Stanford University where he obtained his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) in 1999 and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 2006 with research and coursework in the Division of Mechanics and Computation (formerly the “Timoshenko Department”). His research interests include solid and structural mechanics, linear and nonlinear finite element analysis, scientific computing, plates and shells, wave propagation, vibrations, adjoint-based sensitivity analysis, polymer mechanics, mechanical properties, inverse problems, and biomechanics. Currently, he is exploring transient pulses in cornea assuming physiological loadings for invention of a new tonometric technique for measurement of the intraocular pressure.
